Alcohol Inks

"Magi"

Magi was an unconscious creation.
Playing with alcohol inks and rubbing alcohol I squirted 'señorita magenta' and 'baja blue' onto a 6" x 6" tile. Adding 90% rubbing alcohol I started swirling the inks around with a paintbrush. Then seeing an elephant in the "ink blot" I used a few deliberate strokes of the brush to create "Magi". There is magic in his eyes.

The original is not for sale.

I Am

What do you see, think, or feel when you look at this piece? For me it's, "I Am" proud.  "I Am" strong.
"I Am" magnificent.

"Solo Singer of Galway"

A piece I did from a video I took while in Galway Ireland.

"Galway Trio"

Another piece that was done off of a video I took of street musicians when I was in Galway Ireland. This piece was chosen to be in the book, Artists Eye on Galway and was on display at the Galmont Hotel in Galway from 7/4 - 7/6, 2022. It is currently on permanent loan to the project and is part of a traveling art show in Ireland.

Chairs for Charity

I did these chairs for a charity event called A Seat At The Table. Proceeds went towards Our Mothers Home in Ft Myers, Fl. A home for young mothers in the foster care system. A very worth cause. <3

I asked the event organizer what her favorite animal was and created this octopus chair from her answer. Her young son decided to name it "Pieces of 8".

"Namaste I, Namaste II" and "Yoni Mudra-Seal of the Inner Source"

Namaste I, Namaste II and Yoni Mudra-Seal of the Inner Source, are all part of an exploration of mudras; spiritual hand symbols. These pieces, like Colors of Buddha, are part of my spiritual and yoga explorations.

Colors of Buddha

Colors of buddha was a deliberate attempt to make the alcohol inks do what I wanted them to do. It was the first time I decided, before laying down the ink, what I wanted to create. The decision to create a buddha image was due to my explorations with yoga and my quest towards gaining my yoga teaching certificate, which I did in April of 2019.

Purple Peacock.jpg
"Peeking Peacock"

Another playful piece with alcohol inks.
Laying down the color I started doing brush strokes to move the ink and saw peacock feathers and thought of the peacock "peeking" out from behind them.
Original on 6"x6" tile.

         Candles In The Dark

I almost threw this one away. Dropping the ink and alcohol on the canvas I was trying different ways to move it around. Nothing was coming to me. And at the point that I didn't want to play with it anymore I walked with it in hand to the garbage can. Not sure what angle got me but I suddenly saw "Candles in The Dark". I took a white pen "scratched" out the candle sticks and drew the wicks on with thin black marker.

Let color brighten the darkness.
